2018, my daughter was 2 years old and I was living a live many would label great. You know the cookie cutter life, I had a supportive boyfriend, who was involved in her daughter’s live, I was holding a rather high ranked position in the provincial government department, with 2 masters degrees and busy with a PhD.
I felt so guilty every-time I felt, like there needs to be another way. Few of the people I told my frustrations did not understand the void I was feeling and the typical advice was to be greatful because a lot of people would kill for the kind of life I am living.
The reality is I loved my daughter and wouldn’t change any thing for becoming her mom. What I didn’t realise at the time is, I took the limiting belief and pattern I saw growing up from the mothers in my lineage and around me. All I saw was motherhood as a sacrifice and to some extent, our mothers would use every opportunity to let us know of the sacrifices they had to and continue to endure for us.
I knew that that was not the burden I want to bestow upon my kids, and that there needs to be a difference way to reclaim my life as Neo while also enjoying being a mother.
And there the quest began for me to find out who Neo is at a core.Unfortunately it took me becoming a mother to have a rude awakening that I didn’t know who I was and what I truly wanted.
